Terms of Service

Last updated: August 27, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the XuanScope mobile application ("App") published by the developer account "JIETAO" operated by Jietao Huang ("Developer", "we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App and uninstall it.

1. The Service

XuanScope is a multi-camera directing and video composition tool. Subject to your subscription plan, the App provides:

  • Capture from the device camera and USB (UVC) cameras;
  • Import of local images and videos as picture sources;
  • Connection of phones on your local network (via QR code or IP address) as camera or screen sources;
  • Multi-source composition, layout switching, and overlays (text, images, clocks, scoreboards, and more);
  • Video recording (MP4) and photo capture (JPEG) saved to your device;
  • Streaming of the composed output to live-streaming servers you designate via RTMP.

Some features require a paid subscription. The availability of features may change as the App evolves.

2. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

  1. Plans. The App may offer subscription plans (e.g., Free, Pro, Studio). The features included in each plan are shown in the App before you subscribe.
  2. Billing by Google. All purchases and subscription payments are processed by Google Play. We are not a party to the payment transaction and do not receive your payment card details. Billing, renewals, and receipts are handled by Google under the Google Play Terms of Service.
  3. Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Google Play account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
  4. Cancellation and refunds. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Google Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, or via the subscription management link provided in the App. Refunds are governed by Google Play's refund policy; we do not issue refunds directly.
  5. Price changes. If we change a subscription price, Google Play will notify you in advance, and the new price applies from the next billing cycle.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  1. Use the App for fraud, impersonation, fabricated live footage presented as authentic, or deceptive practices;
  2. Record, stream, capture, or distribute another person's image, voice, or screen content without their explicit consent;
  3. Use the App for unlawful surveillance, interception, or tracking of any person or communication;
  4. Use the App to create or distribute content that is illegal, including content involving violence, sexual exploitation of minors, terrorism, or incitement to crime;
  5. Attack, probe, or interfere with the App's local network services or other users' devices, or inject forged video into another user's session;
  6. Reverse engineer, decompile, tamper with, or circumvent the technical protection measures of the App, except to the extent such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law;
  7. Share your subscription entitlement beyond the device limits permitted by Google Play.

4. Your Content and Conduct

  1. You retain all rights to the content (recordings, photos, streams) you create with the App, and you are solely responsible for that content and your use of the App.
  2. The App is a general-purpose tool. We do not monitor, review, or control the content you produce or the third-party devices and servers you connect to, and we are not responsible for them.
  3. You must ensure you hold all rights and consents necessary for the material you capture and stream.

5. Intellectual Property

  1. The App, including its code, graphics, and design, is owned by the Developer and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
  2. The App incorporates open source components (such as RNNoise and UVCCamera). Those components are governed by their respective licenses; see the "Open Source Licenses" page in the App for details.
  3. You may not copy, redistribute, or modify the App, or remove any copyright or attribution notices from it, except as permitted by law or by the applicable open source licenses.

6. Disclaimers

  1. The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted operation, or error-free performance.
  2. Live streaming and recording depend on your device capabilities, network conditions, and third-party services (such as streaming platforms). We are not responsible for interruptions, failures, or data loss caused by these factors.
  3. Local network features (phone sources, RTMP streaming) are based on general-purpose network protocols and do not provide end-to-end encryption or strong peer authentication. Use them only on networks you trust; you are responsible for assessing the security of your network environment.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the App. The Developer's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App's subscription in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

8. Changes and Termination

  1. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App, and will endeavour to notify you of material changes.
  2. If you violate these Terms, we may restrict or terminate your access to the App, including subscription-dependent features.
  3. These Terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always available in the App. Continued use after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

  1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
  2. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails within thirty (30) days, the dispute shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) under its Hong Kong Arbitration Rules in force at the time, in Hong Kong, in the English language. The award is final and binding.
